I am legally separated from my ex. I’m not for sure yet if he is quit his job, but when we separated, I drew up a statement and had it notarized. We both signed it, and it was notarized that he was to keep me on his medical insurance until we are divorced, we live in North Carolina, but I found out this morning that I’m no longer on his medical insurance as of June * of this year * in the statement is not to have any contact with me so I cannot contact him. We have two adult children which both have told me that I am completely dead too, so they are not talking to me , I’m trying to figure out how to find out if he has quit his job or not, but that being said he take me off his medical insurance legally even with a statement drawn up and it notarized that he is to keep me on his medical insurance until we are divorced
Hello ****, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. In North Carolina, if a notarized agreement is violated, you may have legal grounds to seek enforcement:
- A court could potentially enforce the agreement as a contract.
- You could file a breach of contract lawsuit.
Remember to consult a local family law attorney for more personalized advice.
OK so my next thing would be to definitely find out if he has quit his job or not and then go from there. What kind of attorney do I need to seek if he has not quit his job but he canceled my medical insurance we will not be divorced until November of this year.
You would need a Family Law Attorney. They can guide on matters like spousal support and insurance issues during separation or divorce. They can also help to enforce notarized agreements.
OK thank you so much. If I have any more questions, I will definitely be reaching out.
