My boyfriend overdosed and died we were alone in the woods alone I was scared and in shock I ran I had someone call and report it but it seems no one has found him
I'm really sorry to hear about your situation, Jennifer. This must be very difficult for you. Could you please let me know which city or state this occurred in? Different areas have different protocols for such incidents.
Tampa FL
I'm really sorry for your loss, Jennifer. In Florida:
- You have a moral obligation to report a death, but not a legal one.
- Leaving the scene might bring suspicion, but you're not legally required to stay.
- Failing to report a crime is not an offense, unless you're involved in it.
Please consult a lawyer.
Also his mother reported him missing and an officer stopped me and I lied said we had split ways and I don't know anything else I know it was stupid I was scared
I understand your fear, Jennifer. In Florida, knowingly providing false information to a law enforcement officer during an investigation is a misdemeanor. Legal counsel is strongly recommended.
